The Jewish Quarter of Prague (Josefov)
The Jewish Quarter, known as Josefov, lies between the Old Town Square and the Vltava River. It was once the center of Jewish life in Prague and is today one of the most important Jewish heritage sites in Europe. The area features several beautifully preserved synagogues, including the Old-New Synagogue, the oldest still-active synagogue in Europe, and the Spanish Synagogue, famous for its stunning Moorish Revival interior. The Old Jewish Cemetery, with thousands of gravestones crowded together, offers a moving glimpse into centuries of history. Together with the Jewish Museum, these landmarks present a powerful story of faith, culture, and resilience, making Josefov a must-see part of any visit to Prague.
